Environmental Surcharge Information |
Beartech collects all environmental fee's for each province that has a surcharge. These charges may not appear when checking out, but they will be added to your order. Please be patient as we are trying to implement them into our system.
Though they will not appear upon checkout, they will appear on your final invoice. Please refer to your corresponding province if you’re buying a product in any provinces listed below. Please email questions to customerservice@beartechinc.com
****Please be advised that several major changes are being implemented by the various provincial entities that manage environmental disposal fees. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these changes as it will have an impact on your product costs and liability for any shipment of impacted goods made into the following provinces: ****
Ontario (effective April 1, 2010)
Levy amounts have changed
Disposal fees for all existing product categories have been revised. This will impact either the amounts you will be billed directly by Tech Data, or for those entities that have signed a remitters agreement, the amount you will need to report and remit to the OES. The revised product fee schedule can be found in Appendix E – Table of Fees on page 17 of the OES 2010 Rules for Stewards With Respect to Payment of EEE at:

Categories have been added or expanded
- Modems (wired and wireless) are now included with computer peripherals.
- Desktop printer category now includes scanners and printer devices that can utilize an optional floor stand
- Floor Standing printers are now included under a separate category and fee structure
- Televisions and Monitors have been combined under one new category called display devices. All-in-one PCs are included in this classification. The fee structure differs for diagonal screen sizes <30” and those 30”+.
New categories:
- Telephones and answering machines
- Cellular devices and pagers
- Personal/Portable audio and video devices
- Home A/V equipment
- Home Theatre in a Box (HTB)
- Aftermarket vehicle AV equipment
- Cameras (digital and Web cams), headphones, speakers (including computer speakers)
Saskatchewan (effective April 1, 2010)
Saskatchewan’s program (SWEEP) will launch its Phase II program adding products similar to those listed above for Ontario. This includes telephones, cell phones, home, vehicle and personal/portable AV equipment and HTB systems.
Other Future Changes
July 1, 2010: BC will expand its list of products to similar to that outlined above for SWEEP including telephones, cell phones, home, vehicle and personal/portable AV equipment and HTB systems.
July 1, 2010: PEI will launch their hardware recycling program. Their Phase I plan addresses desktop and portable computers, computer peripherals, monitors, printers, fax machines, phones, cameras, PDA, audiovisual equipment and televisions, and will have a different fee structure than existing programs
